Warner RecordsThe Head and the Heart has premiered a cover “Sunflower,” Post Malone and Swae Lee‘s number-one hit from the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack.
The cover was recorded with famed produced T Bone Burnett, and is available exclusively via Amazon Music.
“The first time I heard Post Malone and Swae Lee’s ‘Sunflower’ was at a pool party in Austin, [Texas],” says drummer Tyler Williams. “We couldn’t stop listening to it all summer long and when the opportunity arose to cover a tune with T Bone Burnett producing we knew it had to be ‘Sunflower.'”
“T Bone, being the legend that he is, helped us find the emotional center and enabled us to fully inhabit the song as our own,” Williams adds. “We can’t thank him enough for allowing us to take this journey with him, it is an honor.”
The “Sunflower” cover follows The Head and the Heart’s 2019 album Living Mirage, which features the singles “Missed Connection” and “Honeybee.”
By the way, if you’re interested in other alternative artists covering Post Malone, both Of Monsters and Men and Dashboard Confessional have put their spin on his hit “Circles” in recent months.
Post, meanwhile, proved his rock cred with his charity Nirvana tribute set, which featured Blink-182‘s Travis Barker on drums.
