Tina Thorpe/The CWTaye Diggs is giving The Best Man fans some real hope.
Several years ago, The Best Man franchise director Malcolm Lee said the third installment, The Best Man Wedding, was on hold indefinitely due to scheduling conflicts and creative differences with the studio, but Diggs says there’s still hope.
In a segment for The Talk Take 5, Diggs, who played the role of Harper Stewart in the franchise, said there were some recent discussions about on making the next Best Man happen– but not in the way you might think.
“I do think it will happen. We’ve all been in discussions with the director, Malcolm Lee,” Digg revealed. “[But], I think it might end up being a TV series, maybe on a streaming platform.”
“The script has already been written. So we’ll see,” he said. “I’m just waiting on Malcolm Lee.”
The Best Man franchise follows a close group of friends who, through the course of the film, eventually worked out their personal differences. The original 1999 film The Best Man and the sequel The Best Man Holiday, starred Diggs, Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Monica Calhoun, and Harold Perrineau.
As previously reported, The Best Man Wedding was originally expected to arrive in theaters on April 16, 2016.
