Courtesy of NetflixNetflix has dropped the first trailer for its star-studded crime drama All Day and a Night.
The film, written and directed by Black Panther co-writer Joe Robert Cole, stars Ashton Sanders as Jahkor Abraham Lincoln, a young man struggling to keep his dream of rapping alive amidst a gang war in his hometown of Oakland.
After Jahkor lands in prison next to his father, played by Jeffrey Wright, he decides to “embark on an unlikely journey of self-discovery” — which includes figuring out how to prevent his newborn son from following in his footsteps.
“Some people try to escape…get away from a world that wasn’t safe,” Sanders says in the promo. “It’s crazy to have nothing to give, but want to give everything.”
The film also features Watchman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen, Isaiah John, Kelly Jenrette, Shakira Ja’Nai Paye and Regina Taylor.
All Day and a Night launches on Netflix on May 1.
