Gabriel Olsen/Getty ImagesBirdman is officially giving his community a helping hand. In a new Instagram post, the Cash Money CEO announced his plans to financially ease the burden of those in his hometown impacted by COVID-19.
“I would like 2 offer to pay everybody rent for month of May (for those who in need) in residents area of UPTOWN New Orleans where I was born and raised at,” Birdman wrote, captioning a photo of him and his brother, Ronald Jay “Slim” Williams.
After detailing the exact area where he grew up, the music mogul went on to thank New Orleans mayor LaToya Cantrell and the “hospital [workers] on front line Risking they life to save lives.”
Birdman joins a growing list of celebrities who have contributed to COVID-19 relief efforts in the past month. Just last week, Rihanna‘s charity, the Clara Lionel Foundation, donated millions in grants to support COVID-19 relief and response efforts. Her charity also teamed with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and with JAY-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation to announce more than $6 million in additional grants.
