Kevin Winter/Getty Images for LiveNationJuicy J is ready to embark on a music career as an independent artist.
On Tuesday, the rapper took to Instagram to announce his first independent release for “Gah Dam High” featuring Wiz Khalifa.
The two previously teamed up in on “All Night,” “Medication,” “Ain’t Nothing,” and 2017’s “Always High” and “Cell Ready.”
Most know Juicy as the half member of Three 6 Mafia. Fans remember the Memphis outfit for making history as the first hip-hop group to ever perform live at the Academy Awards in 2016, and the first hip-hop group to win Best Original Song for Hustle N’ Flow‘s lead single, “Hard Out Here for a Pimp.”
But these days, Juicy dips more into his production bag for the likes of IDK, Project Pat, A$AP Rocky, Future and, more recently, on August Alsina‘s The Product III: State of Emergency.
Earlier this week, Juicy said he wanted to take on New York rap legend Nas in a Verzuz battle, tweeting, “They scared to battle me when I pull out that Three 6 [Mafia] catalog it’s a wrap. No cappuccino.”
“Gah Dam High” featuring Wiz Khalifa drops Friday.
