Paras Griffin/Getty ImagesThe hip hop community is mourning yet another loss in the music industry after rising Atlanta rapper Lil Marlo was found shot and killed in his vehicle in Atlanta Saturday night.
TMZ reported the news first, which was confirmed by his label Quality Control Music in a statement on Instagram, remembering him as “a man of great talent who feared nothing.”
“So Much Potential That The World Didn’t Get A Chance To See. Love You, Bro. It’s Really Hard For Me To Say RIP,” wrote Quality Control Music CEO Pierre Thomas on Instagram.
Investigators believe the 30-year-old rapper, born Rudolph Johnson, was the “intended target” of a shooting that took place on Interstate I-285.
Since the shocking news broke all over social media, artists including Young Thug, producer London On The Track, JT from the City Girls, Russ, and rapper Meek Mill shared their thoughts and condolences.
Marlo’s label mate Lil Yachty reacted to the news Instagram on, saying they had just completed four-song at the recording session the previous night. He wrote, “We just did a song [at] 4 this morning smh rip brother.”
Gunna shared a photo of Marlo looking over him with the caption, “I really hate I’m posting this, whoa. Rest easy gangsta.”
After his “2 The Hard Way” collaboration with Lil Baby in 2017, Lil Marlo became one of Atlanta’s rising rappers. He went onto release a few mixtapes, and his most recent album 1st & 3rd dropped at the top of the year. Marlo is featured on both Quality Control Music compilation albums with the likes of Lil Yachty, City Girls, Layton Greene, Migos, and more.
