Thursday evening, the YSL CEO shared an Instagram video of himself recording in the studio. At one point, Thugger stops to play a track on a FaceTime call with his YSL signee, New York rapper T-Shyne, who bobs his head in excitement. T-Shyne is one of the tagged artists in the post’s caption, along with Philly native Meek Mill.
From the sound of the track, Thugger is lining up to release a hard-hitting banger with synthesized horns and uptempo percussion. And he never misses an opportunity to mention his favorite green diamonds and those he loves most.
“Mutha[eff] a trend / I be with my kids in the spot cause family matter / everything else you speaking about might get you / whipped like a paddle,” spits Thugger, followed by T-Shyne, rapping, “This that Ghost [ish] / lil [chick] try to act smart with me but she don’t know [ish].
According T-Shyne’s Instagram post, the untitled track drops Friday, and may likely be featured on the YSL collaborative-album, Slime Language 2 — hence the green snake emoji in the caption.
Thugger’s imprint, YSL, which stands for Young Stone Life, is the label behind emerging artists including Gunna, Lil Keed and Yak Gotti, the latter of whom recently joined Thugger on the Gunna-assisted track, “Take It to Trial.” Gunna reached mainstream success last year after his chart-topping album, Wunna. Lil Keed dropped his sophomore album, Trapped in Cleveland 3, last August, as the third installment of his Trapped in Cleveland series.
