Josh Brasted/FilmMagicMulti-platinum selling rapper and entrepreneur Saweetie is back with her new single “Back to the Streets,” featuring Jhené Aiko.
The “Icy” rapper has traded in her “old” dudes for her new man, Quavo, so she’s sending all the [eff] boys back to where they belong. “Ride around town till I leave / I gave that boy a round and sent him back to the streets,” Saweetie raps. “Like la-da-dee-da-dee-da / Yeah, I send him back to the streets.”
Songstress Jhené seems to be having her own “level-up” moment, singing “Sent you back to your old hood/ On hood, baby this is for your own good / I can’t be stuck / I wish you luck though / Consider yourself blessed / You got to [mess] with the baddest.”
Saweetie and Aiko become two whimsical Tinkerbell-like fairies flying around in the song’s animated music video.
“Back to the Streets” was co-produced by Timbaland and will be featured on Saweetie’s highly-anticipated, forthcoming debut album, Pretty B**** Music, which stands for “Boss. Independent. Tough. CEO. Hyphy.”
Saweetie has started an entire movement with her “Icy University” YouTube series, where she gives viewers business and entrepreneurial advice, encouraging all women to define their pretty.
Following the success of her latest #1 hit single “Tap In” and the remix featuring fellow hitmakers DaBaby, Post Malone and 2020 XXL Freshman Jack Harlow, Saweetie was nominated for New Artist of 2020 at the People’s Choice Awards, airing Sunday, November 15 on E!
