Warner RecordsIDK, aka Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge, and Rico Nasty shine on the new single, “495,” from Kevin Durant‘s Basketball County: In the Water documentary, arriving this Friday, May 15th.
The pair are joined on the Juicy J-produced song with other local DMV rappers YungManny, Big Flock, Weensay, and Big Jam, paying homage to fallen hip-hop artists Bankroll Fresh, Nipsey Hussle and Pop Smoke, and name-dropping basketball greats such as Reggie Miller. Rico, the only woman on the track, keeps the energy high, closing out the song with a lengthy verse.
“This is one of the first times I’ve seen the DMV on one song; it just felt really authentic when we put it together,” IDK shared in a press release. “The goal for me and Kevin with this project is to bring unity while telling our story in an authentic way.”
IDK will serve as music supervisor, composer and narrator of the documentary, highlighting potential hoop stars in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area, mirroring the career of fellow Maryland native Durant.
Last year, IDK complimented Durant’s taste in music, revealing he makes beats. “KD understands music more than people think,” he told Billboard. “He knows a lot about music. I actually just got a beat from him that kind of tight. If he wasn’t playing basketball, he’d probably be doing music.”
IDK’s eclectic 2019 major-label debut, Is He Real?, featured Pusha T, Tyler The Creator, Burna Boy and more.
