Epic RecordsFrench Montana is still on top, and “That’s a Fact.”
Today, the rapper and philanthropist suits up in his hazmat suit and N95 mask to brave the COVID-19 pandemic in the new video starring him in quarantine in New York City, which has the highest number of coronavirus infections of any city in the U.S.
“That’s a Fact” first debuted during Montana’s Instagram Live last Thursday, during the same time he squashed his 15-year-old beef with rapper Jim Jones. The new single comes just days after the Middle Eastern desert-inspired video for “Salam Alaykum.”
During a remote interview with TMZ, French claimed some fellow rappers may not be able to keep themselves afloat amid the COVID-19 pandemic, taking some things for granted — like future finances.
“Its so many things we don’t appreciate … Everybody is getting put to test about one thing and one thing only,” he said. “Were you saving money when you were rapping? Did you build the capital? Did you build something, like a retirement plan?”
French says for every dime he spends, he saves for either a “rainy day,” or the possibility of a “beautiful exit” from the music industry — something the Grammy-nominated rapper said some artists don’t consider.
“There’s a lot of artists out there that live check-to-check,” he said. “There’s going to be a lot of garage auctions, I’ll tell you that much.”
