Drake is using his COVID-19 quarantine time to focus on his “fresh, brand-new” album, following 2018’s award-winning Scorpion.
Sunday night, Diddy raised over $4 million for healthcare workers amid the coronavirus pandemic, with his Instagram Live dance-a-thon. During the Live, Drake joined in to do the “Toosie Slide” with Diddy’s daughters and share details about his forthcoming new album. The 6 God rapper revealed that self-isolation has been the silver lining for this upcoming album, even though he’s been working on it for a while now.
“Obviously God has us all inside the house right now,” Drake said. “The amount of focus that I’m able to put into this album is way different than what it would have been if I had to go do a residency in Las Vegas, meet up with Justin [Combs] in Miami or whatever.”
Drake went onto share he was “hype” about his new album, saying it’s “probably the most music I’ve been sitting on.”
“This is the most excited I’ve been about an album in a long time,” he said. “All the stuff on the album is fresh, its brand new, and I’m excited. This probably the most music I’ve ever been sitting on. I’m hype.”
Drake also said he hasn’t been this focused since he tore his ACL in 2009. “And I made a great album out of that,” he said, referring to his 2010 Thank Me Later album, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
Neither a date nor a title for the album was mentioned by Diddy or Drake.
