Tabatha Fireman/Getty ImagesThe label behind J.I.D., Ari Lennox, Bas and more, J.Cole‘s Dreamville Festival has decided to postpone its annual music event due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The festival was originally scheduled for April 4th at the Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina but has now been pushed back to August 29th.
Dreamville Fest organizers released a statement via Instagram tells fans, “Your safety is our main concern. See you in August.”
It goes on: “We recognize there’s been a lot of questions about the status of Dreamville Festival and in light of recent developments, we are excited to let you know we are moving forward with a new date.”
“While this decision has been extremely difficult to make, the safety of our fans, artists, and staff is always our top priority, and nothing will ever take precedence over your well-being,” organizers continued. “We now encourage everyone to follow the guidelines and various preventive measures put forth by local and national health authorities.”
Due to Hurricane Florence, the inaugural festival was moved from September 2018 to April 2019 with headliners SZA, Big Sean, Teyana Taylor, 6lack, Earth Gang, Davido, 21 Savage and more.
The annual Dreamville Festival pays respect to J. Cole’s home state for a celebration of local culture, food, and music performances from some of today’s biggest national acts with exciting up-and-comers. Refunds for this year’s festival will be available upon request, and all purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date. The festival was expected to release its lineup this week but due to rescheduling, all performers need to be reconfirmed.
